Liberation Stone 1945
Take a walk in the past
Around Denmark a lot of memorial stones were placed just after World War 2 to express the feeling of liberation after 5 black years and to commemorate future generations that this must never happen again.
The inhabitant of Ørslev Underskov collected 420 DKK, just enough to buy a stone and to get monumental mason Svenstrup in Ringsted to cut the text.
It was unveiled at the village pond on neutral ground on 13 july 1946 by the master of guild, Blacksmith Nielsen.
