You will find models of various types of bog and both original and reconstructed implements and machinery for peat-digging next to ingenious tools like the million spade and the blacksmith’s rail moped.
Local weavers have portrayed the area’s and the peat bog’s history on a tapestry that is 7 m2 in total.
The exhibition also houses a model of the living-quarters that the peat cutters had out in the bog. During the high season, a kneading facility is kneading peat soil in the „children’s bog“.
Old railway
The small train „Tørvegrisen“ carrying tipping wagons takes its passengers on a 2.5 km trip along the old tipping wagon track to the bog. Half-way there is a picnic area where you can enjoy your own picnic basket.
The narrow-gauge railway also operates by arrangement. Public holidays - closed. Special events can be arranged outside normal opening times. Wheelchair-friendly throughout. There are ramps inside the buildings and to provide access to the railway carriages. Lift to the café Tørvecaféen.
