Experience the working mill museum
In the village of Uldum, a beautiful Dutch mill serves as an idyllic symbol and landmark of the town. Today, the mill is a self-governing institution that upholds the proud traditions of the mill profession in the form of a working mill museum where you can see how flour is made – while it is made.
The mill produces many tonnes of organic flour every year, using the old machines. When you visit the mill, you can enter the impressive machine room with its three large grinders. You can also walk onto the external gallery and watch the 23-meter-long arms up close. As you move around the mill, you can read about its history and learn more about working as a miller.
Uldum Mill is one of the largest mills in Denmark and the largest of its kind. The mill is a cultural-historical gem and an authentic and present experience.

The mill also has exhibition rooms that tell the story of an impressive area of natural beauty which is quite close to the mill. Uldum Marsh is a large wetland area traversed by Gudenåen.
The main attraction of the exhibition is a bog body from around 100 BC i.e. the Iron Age that was found in the area. The bog body is known as ’Uldumpigen’ (the Uldum girl) and is the skeleton of a girl of about 10-11 year of age. You can also see well-preserved bones from aurochs and other animals found in the area.

Buy flour from the mill
There is a small shop in the mill where you can buy the flour produced in the mill. The organic flour production at Uldum Mill includes ordinary wheat, Oland wheat, spelt, graham, durum and rye. The products are sold from whole kernels over rolled flakes, wholemeal to the finest ground flour. Moreover, you can buy the popular mill-rolled oatmeal.
The shop also has a selection of locally produced products such as honey, boiled sweets, mustard, mead and much more.

Book a tour
During and outside normal opening hours, tours with stories and tales from the mill and the pond can be booked. The tours are available in Danish, German and English and are, naturally, adapted to the audience whether it is a kindergarten, a school class, a group of pensioners or mill enthusiasts.
In connection with guided tours, the heated schoolroom can be booked with coffee and bread. The room can accommodate 54 people. Outside the museum, there is also a covered picnic area by the playground for public use. There is room for 15 persons.
