Say hello to Denmark's oldest living creature, 1400-1900 years old: The Royal Oak at Jægerspris Nordskov!
The mighty oak was already a giant tree when Gorm the Old gathered the Danish kingdom in 900 AD. The Royal Oak was once 14 metres in circumference, making it probably the thickest oak in Europe. You can cycle or hike to Kongeegen and at the same time experience Bredvig Mose, the closest you can get to the forest that once covered the northern part of Hornsherred.
At Rejsestalden in Jægerspris you can buy leaflets with maps of the beautiful forest area.
