The Kås peninsula

Take a walk in the past

The peninsual Kås

On the protected Kås peninsula, you will find a unique landscape with a grass heath with 18 burial mounds and one of Denmark’s few original natural woods. Along with Lake Kås Sø, the area is an important habitat for flora and fauna.

In the south of the area, you can see the Sønderhøje Bronze Age mounds. The Kås peninsula was protected in 1941, and visitors to the private woods are only allowed on the paths and roads between the hours of 6 am and sunset. There is access to the south-western section along the public road to the beach. Rambling is also permitted around the peninsula along the beach.
