The Funen Village - Open Air Museum
Take a walk in the past
Explore life in the 18th and 19th-century, when people in the countryside lived together in small communities and led self-sufficient lives. Par of the experience is the living history programme, where volunteers perform the roles of cooks, horse-drawn carriage drivers, field workers, candle makers, goose girls and many more! When you visit the village, you can interact with these characters as they go about their daily chores to create the right atmosphere for you!
This environment is also what inspired many of Hans Christian Andersen’s popular fairy tales.
Witness agriculture as it was practised in the old days using traditional methods! Many activities and living history during the holidays. At the Funen open-air museum, you feel like you are visiting a country village, while still being close to the city centre of Odense.
Please note that opening hours may differ during holidays, please visit their website for further information. Children and youth under the age of 18 are admitted free of charge.
