Saint Mauritii Spring at Serup Beach
Saint Mauritii Spring is beautifully located by Serup Beach and was re-established in 1998 as part of a local effort to preserve cultural heritage. The spring is dedicated to Saint Mauritius, just like Odby Church, and has historically been considered a sacred site.
Its location at the edge of the sea gave it a special status, as the ocean was once seen as a divine force. Stories of miraculous healings are connected to the spring, including the tale of Lady Kraft from Råstrup near Hundborg. She donated a chandelier, an altar cloth, and a chasuble to Odby Church in gratitude for being healed—possibly from blindness.
Visitors can find the spring by walking down Lavbjergvej to the beach and then following the shoreline for about 100 meters. A peaceful and historical experience awaits in this scenic coastal setting.
