Exhibitions on the Second World War
"Pilots in the Night" is an exhibition that sheds light on the story behind the British Lancaster bombers that flew over Denmark’s west coast during the Second World War. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a full-scale 1:1 replica of a Lancaster bomber.
Through sound, film, original artefacts and large-format photographs, the exhibition tells the story of the planes that crashed, their missions – and the people behind them.
"What the Bunker Hid – a German Soldier’s Story"
Most German bunkers were abandoned and cleared in 1945 or shortly thereafter, but one was completely covered by sand and remained untouched until it reappeared after a storm near Søndervig in 2008.
In the exhibition "What the Bunker Hid – a German Soldier’s Story", you can enter a reconstructed bunker and watch a film about the German soldier Gerhard Saalfeld. During the war, he lived in the “lost” bunker, and many of the displayed items once belonged to him.
