A Historical Workplace with a Beautiful View

Knud Rasmussen’s House is situated on a natural plot near Spodsbjerg Lighthouse, offering a breathtaking view over the Kattegat. Built in 1917, the house served as the polar explorer’s workplace between his expeditions, and today it functions as a museum and memorial.

Explore the Magnificent Landscape

The scenic surroundings invite you to take walks, where you can enjoy the view to Hesselø. The house and its surroundings provide a sense of tranquillity and closeness to nature, making it an ideal place for both play and learning for children and adults alike.

Nearby Attractions

Hundested Harbour and town, with its art and cultural experiences, are just a short walk away. Here, you can explore local art, maritime history, and culture. Visit, for example, the Hundested Sand Sculpture Park with its impressive sandcastles, or take a stroll to the Glass Workshop and watch how the most beautiful vases and lamps are blown from glass. You can also satisfy your hunger at one of the town’s many cafés and restaurants.

Memorial Cairn

On the museum’s grounds, there is a memorial cairn made from stones brought from Greenland, paying tribute to Knud Rasmussen’s achievements. Since 1939, the house has functioned as a museum and was restored after a fire in 2011 to bring it closer to its original appearance.

Annual Special Exhibitions

Every year, the museum presents a new special exhibition focused on Knud Rasmussen and his expeditions. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in fascinating themes related to his life and work.
