Havnbjerg Church
Take a walk in the past
A 12th century Romanesque church of split granite with corners af carved stones. Tower and spire from 1857. The bells date from 1370 and 1920.
The altarpiece is a painting by C.W.Eckersberg, showing Jesus in the Garden og Gethsemane. In the wall of the choir is a so-called piscina - a basin designed for liturgigal handwashing.
The pulpit is late Renaissance and the baptismal font has a Romanesque top. The organ has 20 stops. The churchyard has soldiers' graves from 1848 and 1864 as well as a monument to those killed in World War I.
The mentioned opening hours can deviate at some days, if both the gravedigger and the assistant is of duty; in this case, the church will be closed.
The church will be open one hour before and after religious ceremonies.
