Gjerrild Church

Take a walk in the past

Gjerrild Kirke is a richly decorated church that is typical of several of the areas' limestone churches.

The church is filled with colourful medieval frescoes, many of which date back to around the year 1500 and were made by the Danish painting workshop Brarupværkstedet.

The motifs of Brarupværkstedet typically portrayed narrative scenes from the testaments of the Bible and are often topics with moralizing content.
