Bjørnshøj Burial Mounds – heritage in the landscape
The Bjørnshøje group is a well-preserved collection of large, beautiful burial mounds, mostly covered in heather. Only a few have been ploughed over, and some contain graves from the Early Bronze Age. Recent restoration has shaped the area into a unified heathland and grassland landscape of great cultural and recreational value.
The National Museum is currently preparing an information board, as the site is considered a national treasure of special significance.
Just east of Bjørnshøje lies Kongehøj – an unusually well-preserved burial mound with strong landscape impact and wide views from its 40-meter elevation.
