In the village of Birkende, nice detector finds and buildings have been found.
The village, located in the south-western part of Kerteminde, was once a busy Viking village - typically such a village consisted of 5-8 farms with large, wooden, thatched houses.
The cattle grazed on the meadows and the inhabitants of the time cultivated the surrounding land with soil.
