Hotel Phønix is situated right in the centre of Vendsyssel s main town Hjørring, and this has been the case right since the 1st of May 1887. At that time it was named W. Kyppers Hotel and with its 3 stories and fine ornaments of the façade, it was absolutely the most beautiful building of the town. Later on it was named Hotel Bristol, for a period is was a temperance hotel, and during the 2nd World War the Germans occupied the hotel.
After the war the hotel got new owners, and they gave the hotel its present name: Hotel Phønix. According to the mythology the firebird Phoenix lives for many years before it burns up and resurrects. This is precisely what happened to the hotel: at first it was renovated from top to bottom and later on it was extended with a new storey. The target of the owner and the skilled staff is to combine the proud historical traditions with the demands and wishes of the present time and of the future and to create a hotel, which gives the guests the optimal experience.
Today the hotel is run as a hotel, which only serves breakfast, and it has specialized in courses, meetings, conferences, and parties. The previous à la carte restaurant is converted into a bar with soft furniture and it is open day and night no matter whether you wish a cop of coffee or a pint of draught beer.
