History of the church
Vrads Church was built around 1200. Sand drift, plague and the harbouring of enemy troops meant that the church fell into serious disrepair in the 15th and 16th centuries.
However, in 1592, the neighbouring parishes were ordered by royal decree to repair the church. For this purpose, materials from the equally dilapidated churches in Tømmerby and Brande were used.
Today, the chancel arch and north door are all that remains of the original church. Vrads Church contains a beautiful altarpiece that was donated by Chr. 4's wife, Kirstine Munk. There is also a marble baptismal font from the 13th century.
