The first urban settlements in Strandby emerged in the 18th century, and the town has since developed into an area of both historical and cultural significance. Previously, the area was characterized by so-called "strand farms," which could be seen along the coast all the way to Skagen. These farms were characteristic of their time and gave the area a unique charm that can still be sensed in the town's atmosphere today.
The old town district is centered around the roads leading down to the harbor and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Strandby. A significant portion of the houses in this area were built at the beginning of the 20th century and exhibit the building style of that era. The houses in this neighborhood display a great variety in both colors and building materials, giving the area a special charm. Yet, the houses manage to create a cohesive architectural experience that clearly reflects the shared building culture prevalent in Strandby at that time.
