Trente Mølle – From Trout Farming to Gasolin’s Rehearsal Space
Trente Mølle has existed since the 16th century, with several watermills succeeding one another on the site. The current main building was constructed in 1886, and traces of the last watermill can still be seen. Trente Mølle has had a colorful and varied history, including trout farming, a bakery, a lamp factory, and a mushroom farm. To top it off, the property was once owned by Preben Kaas, during which time the legendary Danish rock band Gasolin used it as a rehearsal space for their album Efter Endnu En Dag. Some tracks from the album were even recorded here.
There are also many fascinating stories from the distant past involving greed, murder, theft, and gambling.
Near Trente Mølle, you’ll find St. Oluf’s Spring, which still flows strongly and is one of the few natural springs that has not dried up, been drained, or replaced by concrete pipes. The beautiful farm lies below the water level of the millpond, and when viewed from the west, it’s a striking sight to see the building nestled in the water.
Today, Trente Mølle is owned by the Danish Nature Agency and operated as Trente Mølle Nature School, hosting a wide range of activities, including nature education, school camps, and team-building courses.
