Open Air Museum Hjerl Hede

Take a walk in the past

Do not miss the living museum on the moor. The time machine has been invented and works impeccably if you want to travel back in time and experience how daily life took place 150 years ago. It only requires a ticket to the vibrant Open Air Museum Hjerl Hede.

Bring the whole family, see, sense and play in the past. Living rooms and kitchens are populated and the forgotten workshops are worked in again. All houses are furnished with original furniture and household furnishings. Among the buildings are Vinkelgården, Denmark's oldest farmhouse from 1546.

During the summer and advent weeks until Christmas, the museum is made up of more than 100 volunteers working in houses and workshops. The steam train takes you on a tour to the moor, the horse-drawn carriage rocks gently through the village, and from the baker it smells of freshly baked bread that you can buy and bring home.

At Restaurant Skyttegaarden you can buy lunch or coffee. If you bring your own lunch, you can enjoy it in the picnic area right next to the historic playground. Dogs on a leash are welcome.
