Nykøbing F. castle ruin
Take a walk in the past
An old castle built in the late 11th century. It burned down in 1253 by people from Lübeck. Rebuildt, and in 1287 set on fire by Mark Stig. Later it was rebuildt once again. In the following centuries Nykøbing F. castle was the residence of changing regents and the place where important political decisions where taken. In 1767 it was sold for demolition. Today the only remains of the castle is an insignificant remnant from one of the towers. On the spot there is an informationboard giving you an impression of the dimensions of the castle and where the boundaries once were.
