Da Langelandsbanen åbnede i 1911 blev rejsetiden fra Lindelse til Rudkøbing reduceret til bare 30 minutter. Stationen er, som de øvrige landstationer på banen, opført i røde mursten (i dag hvid spartlet) med tilhørende pakhus opført i træ. Persontrafikken på Lindelse Station var god, med over 12.000 årlige rejsende. Stationen blev landskendt som den station i Danmark der havde den yngste bestyrer, Edith Hansen på kun 19 år. I 1955 bragte Billedbladet en reportage om de mange ekspeditricer på Langelandsbanen, hvor Edith selvfølgelig også blev nævnt. Stationen lukkede i 1962 og blev overtaget af Maler Knud Frederiksen.
