Konabbe Forest is located east of Skovsgaard Estate.
Enter the forest from the car park at Skovsgaard or from the car park on Kågårdsvej.
The forest offers very varied nature and good hiking opportunities in all seasons. Naturdestination Skovsgaard has prepared several different hiking routes that can be followed through the forest.
Wild horses and cattle in the forest
The name "Konabbe" refers to the fact that the forest has been used for grazing cattle. Until the early 1800s, Danish forests were of great importance in agriculture. Cattle and horses grazed here, while pigs rummaged in the forest floor for beech and acorns. This prevented the growth of new trees and the forests fell into decline. In 1805, the Peace Forest Ordinance banned the grazing of livestock in the forests. In 1994, the Danish Nature Foundation was granted an exemption to allow cattle to graze in part of the forest again. Therefore, east of the car park, you can experience a piece of Danish forest history: grazing forest.
Today, you can still meet horses and cattle when you walk in the forest.

Traces from the Viking Age
Konabbe Forest is home to Langeland's only ship setting. A ship setting is an ancient monument consisting of upright stones set in a figure that resembles the outline of a ship.
There is also a stone with petroglyphs in the forest.

From the forest there is direct access to the Påø meadows, which are also part of the manor landscape around Skovsgaard Manor.
