Historie Haderslev - Ehlers Collection

Take a walk in the past

The Ehlers Collection (Ehlers Samlingen) is Northern Europe’s largest collection of earthenware. The collection, which comes from all over Denmark and Northern Germany, contains historical objects and ceramic art from many different periods – the oldest of which are more than 500 years old. Located in historic surroundings at Slotsgade 20, the museum shares a courtyard with von Oberberg’s House. Sometimes, during the summer, plays by Holberg are staged in the beautiful courtyard.

The exhibit is divided into the geographical areas where the ceramics are produced, which gives a clear impression of the different types, decorations etc., which stems from the different parts of the country. For example, you can find:

  • A room for Souther Jutland
  • A room for Mid- and Northern Jutland
  • a room for Sealand
  • A room for Funen
  • A room for Lolland-Falster
  • A room for Bornholm
  • A room with art ceramics
  • A room with renaissance and medieval ceramics

You can pay with credit card, Danish Kroner and mobilepay. Euros will be calculated at the exchange rate 7,5 and change will be in Danish Kroner.

The museum is closed until February 1st.

OBS! Your ticket to the Ehlers Collection also grants you access to Von Oberbergs House and the Schlesinger Carriage Collection.
