A garden full of supernatural beings

Magical fairy tales and old legends are at the heart of the Fairy-tale Forest experience garden.

Here you can explore both the witch’s house and the woodland elf’s cottage. Take a good look around – you are welcome to sniff the strange ingredients in the witch’s cupboard or sit on the elf’s bed. Perhaps you will even hear the story of the elf fight? Around the Fairy-tale Forest you will find QR codes to scan, unlocking stories about the mystical creatures. They might spark your imagination, conversations and play – making your visit even more fun and alive.

These tales are not just entertaining, they also explain natural phenomena. For example, you can learn the meaning of the Danish saying “the bog wife is brewing” – a poetic way to describe mist rising from wetlands. Next to the bog wife’s willow hut you will find the elves’ mound, where you can peek across to the witch’s house. And of course, you must be brave enough to cross the troll’s bridge on your way around the large garden.

Nature playground that challenges motor skills

The adventure continues at the nature playground, which is actually the first thing you see when arriving at the Fairy-tale Forest. Here, children can put their balance to the test on the Tarzan course. There are also swings and a seesaw, guaranteeing fun for the youngest family members.

The picnic area is located right next to the playground, making it easy to keep an eye on the children when (or more likely, before) they finish eating.

Sensory trail with mystery boxes – and fairies

On the opposite side of the playground you will find the sensory trail. This is also where the fairies live, and by scanning the QR code you can learn more about these delicate little beings.

Depending on the season, the trail offers a variety of colours, sounds, scents and even tastes. Along the way you will also come across mystery boxes. Dare you put your hand inside – and can you guess what is hidden there?

Meet the witch at special events

Throughout the year, the Fairy-tale Forest hosts special events where you can meet the witch in person – and if you are lucky, the elf and the troll as well. One example is the traditional turnip lantern day in October, where you carve a lantern from a turnip rather than a pumpkin, just as people did in Denmark in the early 1900s.

It is also possible to book the Fairy-tale Forest and the witch for private events. You might, for instance, help prepare dragon scale soup over the fire.

Warm up in the Fairy-tale Room

Connected to the large outdoor area is the Fairy-tale Room, where you can warm up and relax with a storybook in one of the cosy armchairs. The building is equipped with accessible toilets, baby changing facilities and showers – the latter available if you are staying overnight in the shelters by the Fairy-tale Forest.

Prices and opening hours

The Fairy-tale Forest is open every day during daylight hours. For exact opening times and current ticket prices, please check the Fairy-tale Forest website.

If you would like to host an event or children’s birthday party in the Fairy-tale Forest, book the witch, or arrange other activities, please contact the Fairy-tale Forest directly.
