On this route you will see Hvidkilde Gods, pass the area’s most prominent vantage point and get close to Skjoldemose Gods.
When you leave Svendborg and drive along Egense Kirkevej, you need to be alert when the road joins Hellegårdsvej. The route points to the left. Drive across the intersection and follow Hvidkildevej.
On the main road between Faaborg and Svendborg, turn left onto Fåborgvej. Here you need to take care. The road is so narrow that a decision has been made to construct a cycle lane in a few years’ time. That will be wonderful. Until then, ride single file. Past the estate of Hvidkilde Gods. Enjoy the view.
After about 900 m on the main road, turn right onto Nielstrupvej. It is a beautiful little road. It ends at a T-junction, where you drive right onto Skovmarksvej, which after a turn becomes Alpevej. Your thighs will tell you why the locals refer to the ‘Alps’ in the name!
At the highest point of Alpevej, you can climb to the top of Egebjerg Mill. Here, 110 metres above sea level, there are magnificent views of Central Funen and out over the South Funen Archipelago with Tåsinge and Langeland in the south, and of Ærø to Als in the west. On a clear day you can see Germany! The mill is a must-see on this tour.
After Egebjerg Mill, continue along Alpevej. At the T-junction, turn left onto Egebjergvej. It ends in a new T-junction. Here, turn left again onto Rødmevej. After 1.7 km you pass the estate of Skjoldemose Gods (see later).
Drive on to Stågerup, where you will return to the normal route.
