Ærø Museum tells about life on Ærø, past and present - and every year there are special exhibitions related to the island.
Along the way, you'll gain insight into a number of key themes in the island's history - from Ærø as part of the Duchy of Schleswig before the defeat at Dybbøl in 1864, to wedding tourism today. You'll also learn why the islanders boil eggs on the beach on Easter Saturday and the history behind the island's two local flags.
Adjacent to the museum you'll find a market garden with plants and trees that show what a garden looked like around 1920. Don't miss a trip to the garden when you visit the museum.
Activities for children
The museum's exhibitions are also child-friendly and there are plenty of artefacts to pique children's curiosity.
There is also a free cat treasure hunt with Storm the house cat for children aged 4-8 years and their adults.
Combined ticket
Hammerichs Hus - an untouched gem in the centre of Ærøskøbing - is part of Ærø Museum and with a combined ticket you get access to both houses. You buy the combined tickets at the ticket office of Ærø Museum.

As a group you can book a guided tour at Ærø Museum. Booking must be done well in advance and at least 14 days before your visit.
