Danish Inns

- history, cosiness and gastronomy

A Danish inn holiday is something special. An inn is not only a place to spend the night. A stay in one of the beautiful Danish inns offers intimacy and cosiness, found nowhere else. Small Danish Hotels offer a large selection of inn stays, weekend stays and gourmet stays.

It’s not only cosy to stay at an inn. It’s an experience and a journey to a Danish legacy, which mixes authentic history with modern comfort and new experiences. Many of the inns are royally licensed and their hundred-year-old history is captured in the carefully restored rooms. The inns have kept their authentic hospitality, which greeted travellers in the good old days, when the inns offered important rests along the dusty roads.

Today it is not necessary to saddle up after one night’s stay. Instead, you can enjoy the inn proprietors’ efforts to make you feel “at home” each day of a weekend stay. As local experts, they will gladly show the way to sights, museums, hiking routes and golf courses in the beautiful scenery surrounding many of the inns.

Since the time when the inn proprietor had the sole right to brew beer and make aquavit, the inns have offered food and drinks for the guests. This sole right was abolished a long time ago, but the tradition of good gastronomy thrives. In some of the inns, the palate will be titillated by tasty regional courses made from local ingredients. Other places offer a total gourmet stay with six courses and a wine menu.

With Small Danish Hotels, you can choose between weekend stays, gourmet stays and other types of inn stays in more than 40 inns all over Denmark.
