The sculptures in Give offer a free space in which to relax since they offer artistic inspiration, stimulate curiosity and encourage new thoughts.
In 2015, the large “Solhjul” (Sun Wheel) was inaugurated - a 12 metre tall sculpture located at the northern inroad to Give near the motorway between Vejle and Herning. "Solhjul" is inspired by Europe's oldest wheel, which is 5000 years old and found in Give.
There are sculpture walks several times a day during the summer. Read more at www.skulpturby.dk.
Most of the sculptures are for sale - Skulpturby.dk is responsible for the sales.

The 130 km long marked nature trail leads you through landscapes formed by the latest Ice Ages. From Blåvandshuk to Bække, you walk in the flat landscape which was ice free in the latest Ice Age and which today consists of flat moorland and plantations. Near Bække you pass the ridge and towards Vejle you walk through the melt water valley which was formed under the ice cap of the latest Ice Age. Today hiking in the nature across Jutland along the Coast to Coast Trail offers a rich variated nature landscape, wide open spaces, and peace and quiet. Long sections of the trail are very close to the stream courses, which is unique.
The Coast to Coast Trail is a hiking route offering versatile nature experiences with flora and fauna from meadows, woods, and fields. You can choose to walk the tour in one or more sections or to walk short tours or circular tours along the hiking trail. The trail course is well-equipped with primitive overnight accommodations. Map materials and guides for the hiking tour from coast to coast can be found here: http://www.kyst-kyststien.dk/praktiske.htm (in Danish only).
Following this link, you can find further information about locations where you can stay overnight along the middle part of the Coast to Coast Trail between Hovborg and Bække.
Hovborg
In Hovborg it is possible to shop or to buy a meal at Hovborg Kro (Inn). In the Hovborg area, primarily the large moorland plantations and their cultural history are interesting. Most of the plantations were established by rich men from Copenhagen, who would like to secure hunting ground and to support the national romantic afforestation after the loss of Southern Jutland in 1864. The Hedeselskabet was established here by Dalgas.
Near Bække the Coast to Coast Trail crosses the national hiking route Hærvejen (Ancient Military Road). The Hærvejen has passed through Bække. We now this with certainty. In Bække you find shopping and overnight accommodation. The Coast to Coast Trail passes the historic Bække Monument, Klebæk Høje, where the traces of 3 periods of history can still be seen.

Holme Å is situated in a landscape with high spruce plantation, broad-lived brushwood, moorland and sandy fields. The landscape is characterized by the cultivation and plantation of the moorland. Holme Å is basically not regulated and has its rise in the moor Gispel Mose near the town of Bække. At certain locations the stream is so strong that rocks and sand can be seen at the bottom of the stream. At several locations in the river valley, you can see sprints or water squeezed out at the bottom of the slopes. This is called ”confined groundwater” because the ground water level above the slopes is higher than the bottom of the slope and this squeezes the water out. Another result of the phenomenon is marsh plants growing on the slopes.
A rich plant and animal life is found in and around Holme å. Along the nature trails you will find e.g. bulrush, soft rush, common reed, marsh marigold, spiraea and water avens. On the meadows you will also find water forget-me-not and small-leaved golden saxifrage. Of birds should be mentioned e.g. heron, grey wagtail, kingfisher, and water ouzel. Foxes and grass frogs can also be found in the area. In the water there are rainbow trout, river trout, roach, eel, pike and perch. Holme Å got its name from several islets – very small islands in the middle of the stream. These islets no longer exist.
Københavnerplantager (Copenhagener plantations)
Holme Å runs through the characteristic area near the brook Baldersbæk, where the Copenhagener wholesale dealer Holger Petersen bought sandy moorland and established a large plantation with villa. From here the stream continues towards west, where it joins Varde Å near Karsgårde Sø and continues out into the Wadden Sea.
The Beaver
In 1999, 18 beavers were set out on the Klosterheden moorlands south east of the town of Lemvig. It is said that it may be some of these beavers, which have spread to Holme Å, where the first beavers were registered in 2012. They have cut down trees close to the bridge Høllund Bro, built beaver lodges and dams. The beaver requires access to water all year. It lives near large and small streams, lakes, waterholes, and peat banks.
Meet Holme Å here
You can walk close to the stream and its nature either on the Coast to Coast Trail or some of the local hiking routes in the town of Hovborg. The area with the green activity park of the river valley Holmeådalen is next to the stream. The stream is crossed by the Grinsted-Holsted road and continues down through the town of Hovborg.

The Renaissance castle Engelsholm is beautifully situated on the shores of Engelsholm Lake, surrounded by forest and park. The castle was built by Knud Brahe - the brother of Tycho Brahe - in 1592. The very regular building is rectangular in plan with square towers featuring onion domes embedded in each corner.
The inspiration was drawn from the castle Ancy-le-Franc in Burgundy, France. In the 1730s, Gerhard de Lichtenberg began an extensive restoration and remodeling of the castle. He added the distinctive onion domes, constructed a large three-winged farmyard, and laid out the park in the French style. The castle still contains furnishings with painted Chinese scenes from the renovation.
Gerhard de Lichtenberg also left his mark on the nearby Nørup Church, which belonged to Engelsholm Castle from 1586 to 1935. The Romanesque church is richly decorated with Baroque-style furnishings and, like the castle, features onion-shaped domes.
The castle burned down in 1952 but was immediately restored to its original form.
Since 1940, Engelsholm Castle has been operated as a folk high school and is today owned by the independent institution "Engelsholm Højskole." The castle is not open to the public, but it can be viewed from the outside from the southern part of the park. In addition to the other buildings, which regularly host public events such as classical concerts. Click on the link to read more - Engelsholm Castle events | Music & Culture.
The castle is located in beautiful surroundings on the shores of Engelsholm Lake, surrounded by forest and park. The castle park was likely established by Knud Brahe in the years after it was built, thus as an herb and rose garden.
In addition to the symmetrically laid out beds, lawns, and ponds, the park features clipped trees and bushes as well as terrain shifts in the form of embankments and staircases. The park is now 6 hectares in size. The main elements in Engelsholm's park are the terraces with clipped trees and the moat. The castle on an island in a moat at the edge of a larger lake is also something quite special for Engelsholm. The park is open to the public year-round. To learn more about the castle park: Click on the link and read more about Engelsholm Castle Park.
Around the castle, there is a beautiful walking route of 5 km that takes you through the lovely forest and past Engelsholm Castle.

The experience center Kongernes Jelling is located in the large Monument Area, which Harald Bluetooth enclosed with a palisade - the largest single construction of the Viking Age. Within the palisade stand the two runestones, the church, the ship setting, and the two mounds. The entire area is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is worth preserving for future generations. The modern Monument Area is an impressive sight. White tiles and posts mark in the landscape what has disappeared, putting the stones and mounds in perspective. It is an ideal place to stretch your legs and get a sense of the area's grandeur - and perhaps try your hand at a Viking duel.
At Kongernes Jelling, the whole family can delve into the runes on Harald's Jelling Stone, explore Denmark's line of kings from Gorm the Old to the present day, and learn more about the life and daily routines of the Vikings. We tell the story of the Viking kings' quest for power, their mighty constructions, and Denmark's transition to Christianity. The exhibition is designed to provide a unique experience for both curious children and adults.
From May 1, 2024, admission will be charged at Kongernes Jelling. 120 DKK per ticket. Free for all under 18. An annual pass costs 175 DKK.
There are also additional family activities available both outdoors and indoors.
Throughout the year, guided tours of the monument area or lectures in our hall can be booked. Guided tours are offered in English, German, and Dutch - and of course in Danish.
Check the Kongernes Jelling website for special exhibitions, events, and activities during school holidays and more.

A quaint little town visited by more than 150,000 tourists annually, and not without reason. Jelling boasts some of Europe’s most prominent Viking Age monuments, which in 1994 were included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The two mighty burial mounds and two rune stones erected by the kings Gorm the Old and Harald Bluetooth in the 900s and Jelling Church mark the transition from paganism to Christianity and can also be seen as Denmark’s ‘birth certificate’, since one of the rune stones carries the oldest inscription with mention of Denmark as a nation and the Danes as a people.
Jelling Church was erected around 1100. The Romanesque stone church was constructed on the site of Harald Bluetooth’s wooden church from the 900s. In 2000, King Gorm the Old was reburied in the chamber tomb in the church.
The amazing Kongernes Jelling experience centre lets you explore the world of the Vikings and the exciting history of the Jelling Monuments in immersive, interactive exhibitions. The rooftop terrace offers a magnificent view of the monument area, and through digital binoculars you can see what Jelling looked like 1,000 years ago.
But Jelling has more to offer than Viking Age monuments. It is also a place of outstanding natural beauty, not least south of the village around the lake, Fårup Sø, which is an area with numerous natural springs, extensive woodlands and open meadows and pastures. The lake is a popular destination for cycling and hiking holidays and offers abundant angling. You can rent water bikes and rowing boats. And there is even a Viking ship.
Jelling and its surroundings offer several excellent restaurants and good accommodations.
