    Uhre Mill

    4.34 km

The mill started in 1843 and it was in operation for approximately 107 years. Today, the mill is protected. Uhre Mølle, or Branduhre Mølle, stands on a hill just outside the village of Uhre, approx. 3 kilometers east of Brande. The nearby farm is the old mill farm, and the mill house has the modernized warehouse building, which is used for meetings, parties and exhibitions.

Uhre Mølle ran until around 1950, when electricity made its way into the agricultural holdings - and the storm tore the mill blades off. The mill has a board exhibition about the mill's history in an adjacent building, where you can bring your own coffee or the like indoors at tables and chairs.

The mill has been thoroughly restored and is functional. Furthermore, the full inventory has been preserved.

    Entrance to the mill
The mill is open respectively on Sunday 28 August and Sunday 18 September in 2022.

It costs DKK 20 for adults and free for children - must be according to adults.

In addition, the mill can be visited by appointment.

    "Pakhuset"
It is permitted to sit in the warehouse with brought food/coffee and at tables and benches outside.

It is possible to use a toilet - disabled-friendly. There are tables and chairs for 30-40 people.

    The Tingdal lakes

    20.86 km

    Lobelia lakes

The idyllic Tingdal Lakes are very clean (nutrient-poor), clear water lakes that are called "Lobelia Lakes", partly because of the two-legged lobelia plant growing in the lakes. Their scenic surroundings are protected due to their vulnerable nature to human influence.

For this reason, it is important to respect the restrictions, which mean that you are not allowed to enter the tree- and shrub-free shores or engage in activities such as swimming, fishing and boating in the lakes.

However, Torup Lake differs as an ordinary lake, where part of the eastern shore is accessible to visitors thanks to specific conservation regulations.

On the western side of Kalgård Sø and Kongsø lies Kongsø Hede, where nature management is actively carried out to preserve the character of the area and prevent overgrowth. A special attraction on the heath is the small dammed lake with a historic castle bank known as "Hansborg".

There are signposted trails and information signs in the area.

    Tekstilmuseet (The Textile Museum)

    23.5 km

Textile boom, children’s factory and operating machinery

While most clothes today are made on the other side of the globe, not long ago, Central Jutland was the center of comprehensive textile production. The exhibition “Made in Midtjylland” shows how the industry had its boom in the 1950s, created jobs and growth, made the Central Jutland boom, and then went global.

The youngest kids can try the experience of working at the children's factory.

If you visit on a Wednesday, you can experience the sounds and smells from an old fashioned textile factory, as our volunteers operate the old machinery, or use the looms. They will also share stories from those who were there when the magic happened.

    Café and shop

In the museum shop, you can buy textiles, toys, books, and much more for both children and adults alike. Many of the items are made using machines and looms in the museum. If you're hungry, you can grab a delicious snack and something hot or cold to drink in our cozy café.

    Museum Midtjylland

Tekstilmuseet is a part of Museum Midtjylland, which consists of four cultural history museums that each tell a part of the history of Central Jutland. Both the history that dates back thousands of years and the history that is still alive in memories, people, and craftsmanship. Stop by to discover the history and stories, and experience Central Jutland, as it was before, now, and tomorrow.

You can read more about the different activities, exhibitions, and the many different events and experiences at museummidtjylland.dk
