Visit the exhibition and discover nearly 1,000 years of customs and border history!
Learn about the plough tax and medieval duties like excise and consumption taxes. The cattle toll, which played a central role in the local area along the Hærvejen, naturally has its place in the story. And the blue border gendarmes – the ones with the caps – haven’t been forgotten either.

Throughout the exhibition, you can use your mobile phone to call and listen to former customs officers and gendarmes. For example, hear the customs officer in Bov from the year 1634 talk about the countless cattle he had to clear through customs.

An illustrated timeline gives you an overview of 1,000 years of taxation history in Denmark.

The Children’s Customs Office
Here, children can make their own passports, dress up – and help the gendarme catch smugglers and thieves. They can also help stop enemy soldiers on April 9, 1940.

Join a ride in our "spirits boat" and experience the time when border rules were much stricter (adults who remember the "spirits boat" themselves might even get a nostalgic flashback).

The Oldemorstoft Farm
Oldemorstoft dates back to the 15th century and was used as a farm until the mid-20th century. Over the years, it has served as an inn, royal lodging, and the residence of the local magistrate.

In the old main house, you’ll find the coffee room, where paying guests are welcome to enjoy their packed lunches. You can also take a seat at one of the outdoor picnic tables and enjoy the beautiful surroundings with a view of the Danish-German border.

Admission includes:
A cup of coffee
Guided tour (see website for times)
