The Royal Kitchen Garden at Gråsten is a cooperation between the Agency for Culture and Palaces and Sønderborg Municipality. An important part of the project is economic and social sustainability as well as local support.

The gardener’s from the Royal Palace Garden will run the kitchen garden in close cooperation with the Green Team from “Væksthuset” who also will manage the café and the shop. “Væksthuset” is a section of the social psychiatry in the municipality of Sønderborg Kommune.

Opening hours
The Royal Kitchen Garden is open on workdays from 8 am - 3 pm, and from 5 May to 30 September 2022 within the opening hours of the café and the shop. On the public holidays of 13 and 26 May as well as 6 June, the opening hours of the café and shop apply. There is free admission.

The café offers a selection of sandwiches and pastry as well as coffee. It is NOT possible to book tables as well as coffee and cake in advance at the café - this also applies to groups. You can choose to sit in the Greenhouse or have coffee To Go and find one of the lovely places out in the garden.

Opening hours at the café and the shop in 2022
From 5 May: Thursday-Sunday 10 am - 5 pm.
June-August: Daily 10 am - 5 pm.
September: Thursday-Sunday 10 am - 5 pm.

Dogs are not allowed in the kitchen garden.

A round parking we refer to the parking site, Slotsgade 26, 6300 Gråsten. Alongside the road, Felstedvej there is a set down and pick up zone for busses. The bus cannot park here, but there are bus parking at Slotsgade. For more information on parking, see this link to Google maps

NB. Out of season, when the café,  shop and toiletfacilities have closed, it is still possible to visit the Royal Kitchen Garden on weekdays from 8-15 when gardeners are at work.
