Kastbjerg Church

Take a walk in the past

The Romanesque granite font with lions is without foot and rests on a plain square.

In 2018, the church received a new altarpiece for 1 million Danish Kroner. The altarpiece has a modern twist which makes it special. The artists Peter Brandes and Maja Lisa Engelhardt have transformed the former Renaissance altarpiece into ceramics and removed the historical images. The main field of the board is a star of Bethlehem and in the star, there are both the bull and the donkey, which is traditionally a symbol of heathens and Jews, and placed in the star is also the child of Jesus. The altarpiece thus has the birth of Jesus as its central focus.
