Idyllic inn in the ski town Troense at Svendborgsund

Hotel Troense is situated in the old sailors’ town Troense on the island Tåsinge, which is a perfect idyll wherever you look. On the one side the blue and twinkling sound Svendborgsund, on the other side cozy streets with small half-timbered houses and in the middle of everything with a very beautiful view over the sound you find Hotel Troense. From here, the sailing ships from Troense set out on long voyages on the seven seas; today it is peaceful and quiet here and a cozy yachting harbor makes sure that the maritime atmosphere is intact. In the summertime the tourist vessel Helge calls at the bridge right below the hotel.

The food is an essential part of enjoying a holiday and feeling pampered. In the busy season, the kitchen is open every day from 12-21, so here you can enjoy lunch, the homemade cake of the day and a delicious evening menu in the restaurant with Denmark's most beautiful view over Svendborgsund.

You can look forward to well-prepared meals adapted to the season, everything is of course homemade. The staff aim to use mainly local ingredients and nature's pantry are used, from freshly caught fish to garden herbs, forest ramsons and freshly dug tåsing potatoes.

Discover idyll Tåsinge

Not to far from Troense are Valdemar's Castle, which Christian IV built for his son Valdemar Christian in the years 1639-44, and which the sea hero Niels Juel later acquired for the money he earned from the battle of Køge Bay. And it was also here in Tåsinge that the tightrope artist Elvira Madigan and the Swedish nobleman and lieutenant Sixten Sparre settled in the summer of 1889, when they fled from everything and everyone to live out their great but hopeless love. Many years later, there are still many who visit their gravesite at Landet Cemetery, where they were laid to rest after being found dead in Nørreskoven.
