Description

Dragør Badehotel was built in 1907, at the time of the construction of the Amagerbanen railroad line which terminated in the historical and charming town of Dragør. Today, its location close to Copenhagen Airport and the Øresund Bridge also makes it highly attractive.

The atmospheric hotel is steeped in history. Many of the original interiors have been preserved at Dragør Badehotel, which has been beautifully refurbished with respect for the authenticity of the place.

Since the opening in 1907, Dragør Badehotel has been extremely popular with Copenhageners coming for a seaside holiday and to enjoy the peace and quiet, the beautiful natural surroundings and the beach along the Sound.

Today, you can yourself experience the charm of staying in one of the 32 rooms offering all modern conveniences and comforts – some rooms with disability-friendly access at street level. You can even enjoy the views across the Sound to Sweden from the balcony in front of the rooms on the first floor.

Dragør Badehotel is not very far from Copenhagen and is therefore also popular as an idyllic base for visiting the Danish capital.

However, many guests choose instead to explore the narrow streets and beautiful houses in historical Dragør, or simply come to enjoy the natural surroundings and frolick in the waves.

Seaside hotel near Copenhagen

Dragør Badehotel is full of stories and traditions. Back in the roaring 1920s, talented pianists and famous opera singers entertained the guests at the seaside hotel.

Today, the tradition is upheld with Dinner & Dance events, and Dragør Badehotel often hosts events ranging from weddings to conferences.

On these occasions, the menu is a central element, and the hotel’s chefs are extremely successful in combining traditions with new trends – with delicious results.

When your stomach is full, and if you do not feel like going to the beach, Dragør offers a wealth of attractions. Make sure to take a stroll through the narrow streets lined by the low Dragør houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. In fact, Dragør is one of the best-preserved towns in Denmark with an impressive 76 listed buildings in the old part of town. The four small alleys Bagergangen, Smedegangen, Fiskergangen and Strandgangen are especially charming – originally known as ‘wheelbarrow paths’, which the villagers used to get down to the beach with their fishing tackle.

Before returning for dinner at Dragør Badehotel, do remember to take a walk out to the Dragør Fort fortifications and the marina. Or why not visit the Maritime Pilot Museum of Denmark, located in the old pilot's cottage from the 1820s, or Dragør Museum, which narrates all the fascinating and quirky stories from this charming town.
